Kosovo on Agenda for Carl Bildt and Condoleezza Rice

Sweden’s Foreign Minister Carl Bildt met his American counterpart Condoleezza Rice in the U.S. on Wednesday.

The former Swedish U.N. special envoy to the Balkans said the U.S. and Europe need to stand behind a final bid for a multilateral agreement on Kosovo.  Looking ahead to a December deadline, Carl Bildt advocated a ”soft landing.”  With a long-standing autonomy dispute between ethnic Albanians and Serbia, Bildt said he was concerned over tension in the region.
