The Baltic A Dead Sea Around Gotland

The Baltic Sea’s floor around Gotland is a dead zone according to experts quoted in newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

The Baltic Island’s beaches and marine life are in the most acute line of danger with oxygen levels at an all time low.  The wasteland reaches to a depth of 80 meters.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency with the help of marine research centres, compiled their first report on the status of Swedish waters - this is to be an annual report.  The first edition had some good news, the level of toxins had decreased dramatically after the enforcement of strict restrictions allowing seals and eagles to return to their natural Baltic habitat.
