Afghan Refugees to Stay in Sweden
Amid the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan, the Swedish Migration Board is changing its policy toward refugees from that country.
The director of the Migration Board, Dan Eliasson, told Swedish Radio news, he ordered his authority stop deportations of Afghan asylum seekers. As Eliasson explained, the growing violence especially in the southern part of Afghanistan makes it impossible to send people back there.
However, Eliasson added, Sweden’s Migration Board will look into the matter in the near future again in order to decide whether deportations could resume.
