SAS Safety Criticised
Scandinavian Airlines has come in for strong criticism about its safety standards.
The Danish newspaper “Jyllands-Posten” reports that a security expert at the Norwegian civil aviation authority has written a letter to his colleagues in the other Scandinavian countries saying that it is just a matter of time before SAS suffers a serious accident.
The letter notes one incident in which a flight went ahead, after the pilot reported seeing fuel leaking from a wing. The warning was written before the recent series of accidents involving Dash turbo-prop planes.
The airline has rejected the criticism and the Danish and Norwegian civil aviation authorities have issued a press release saying it is safe to fly with SAS.
