The Ease of Paying Taxes

Sweden has just about the highest taxes in the world, but a new survey gives mixed marks to the tax collection system here.

While Sweden comes in 141st place out of 178 countries in the level of taxes levied on companies, the survey also says Swedish businesses have to spend less time and resources administering their tax bill than those in most other countries.

The report is part of the World Bank’s Doing Business 2008 survey, which concluded that Sweden is in 14th place overall in the ease of doing business.
