Romanian Film Wins Stockholm Prize

The 18th Stockholm International Film Festival’s top award has gone to a Romanian film about illegal abortion during the country’s Communist era.

The festival jury said Christian Mungiu’s ”4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days” expressed the impact of society’s repression on its characters with honesty and ”devastating humanity”.

The festival’s best actress award went to one of the film’s stars, Anamaria Marinca. Mungiu’s film won the Palme d’Or in Cannes earlier this year.

Amiercan actor Jason Patric won the festival’s best actor award for his performance in Cecilia Miniucchi’s ”Expired”.
