Overcrowding of Immigrants in Södertälje
According to latest figures, the township of Södertälje south of Stockholm is receiving the largest percentage of refugees and this in turn has caused major problems.
Municipal commissioner Anders Lago said that the situation with the current system is in trouble and must be fixed immediately.
He said that currently somewhere between 1500-2000 people are living in overcrowded apartments and that they cannot wait until the government reacts to fix the problem.
In response the Swedish Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy said that a new proposal to place Asylum seekers into areas where there are jobs will be put into effect in 2009, a proposal that Lago said is too little too late.
