Severe Problems with Child Psychiatric Services
The child and youth psychiatric services in Sweden have been functioning so badly that the National Board of Health and Welfare has decided to launch an investigation.
According to a report in Svenska Dagbladet newspaper over 230 children in Stockholm alone with suspected ADHD and autism have been waiting longer than the three-month guarantee for examination.
The County Council now wants to let private health companies carry out the examinations in an effort to cut waiting periods.
This comes as reports have shown a decrease in the psychological health of children. A spokesperson from the Board said that the investigation is to begin in September.
