Government Withdraws Sickness Benefit Payments Plan
Amid harsh criticism, the center-right coalition government has withdrawn its plan to confine sickness benefit payments.
Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt told news agency TT, his government was not going to proceed in this question.
Critics maintained that the government’s intention infringes upon EU law.
According to the original plan, the government wanted to forbid insurances that lead to sickness benefit payments higher than 75 percent in order to avoid that people insure themselves out of the state health care system.
