Nuclear Power Industry’s Image at Record Low

The Swedish people’s faith in the nuclear power industry is at an all time low, as bad as shortly after the Chernobyl disaster back in 1986.

Fears for a similar disaster happening in Sweden today are widespread. According to a new survey done at Gothenburg University, only 39 percent of those interviewed had a pretty good or a strong belief in the nuclear power industry. This represents a 10 percent drop from last year’s figures. However, the Swedish people’s opinion of nuclear power as a source of energy has not changed much.
