
More Cases of Human Trafficking in Sweden
Swedish police report a big increase in the number of cases of human trafficking - and that the cases are piling up so quickly that the investigators can’t handle them all.
Last year’s record 500 cases compares with 150 the year before - and this year looks like another record in the making.
This includes people providing others with false papers or helping them enter the country illegally - such as being driven over the Öresund bridge connecting southern Sweden and Denmark.
Police claim that many of the people being smuggled into Sweden are fleeing from Iraq – and that they are giving high priority to catch those making money from desperate refugees.
