Sweden Loses Hockey Semi-final

Sweden is out of the quest for gold at the World Ice Hockey Championships, after losing to Canada 3-1 in the semi-finals.

Two Canadian goals within 45 seconds in the second period sealed the Swedes’ fate. Loui Eriksson scored Sweden’s only goal at 6:14 in the third period.

Sweden goes for bronze for the third year in a row, meeting the United States on Sunday, while Canada and Russia face off in the finals. (gw)
