Coalition Clash Over Tax Cuts

One of the 4 parties in the governing centre-right coalition, the Centre party, have hit out at coalition partners, the Moderates, for prioritising tax cuts over helping students and pensioners.

In the ongoing budget negotiations the Moderates have said that they hope to cut taxes next year, but youth spokesperson for the Centre Party, Annie Johansson, says that if the Moderates have found space in the budgets for the tax cuts, then that money should be spent on students instead, by raising state student support and raising the level of money students are allowed to earn through working before loans and grants are means tested.

Johansson told Swedish Radio News that many students are living on the poverty line due to low student grants and state loans and it is the government's responsibility to help them out.
