A Vaccine for Heart Disease?

Researchers at Stockholm’s Karolinska Institute have taken a major step in the fight against heart disease. Their experiments have turned up a way to tell the body to ignore cholesterol in the blood, reducing hardening of the arteries.

In describing the breakthrough, Swedish Radio News says it could even lead to a vaccine against the disorder. The head of the research team, Karolinska’s Professor Göran Hansson, tells us about their work and the disease that’s commonly called hardening of the arteries.
