Social Democrats Split On Tax Hikes

Social Democrat politicians in the Stockholm region have hit out at their party's tax plans ahead of the next general election, which they fear will alienate voters in the capital.

They say the tax hikes on high earners will hit residents in Stockholm more than in the rest of the country, and could cost valuable votes. Local politician Ilija Batljan says he thinks there is a risk the party is moving too far to the left.

Party economic spokesman, Thomas Östros, says he doesn't think the tax plans will cause any problems.
