Social Dems Promise Bigger Metro

The Social Democrats have announced that they plan to invest in a large-scale expansion of Stockholm's metro system if they win the coming election. With an 80 billion kronor (10 billion USD) budget earmarked for the purpose, they plan to build metro lines out to Täby and Barkaby and connect Hallonbergen with Rinkeby, creating a total of nine new stations.

According to a Social Democrat report, however, expanding the green line to Norra Station and the new Karolinska Hospital will be their most important metro project.

Half of the 10 billion USD price tag will be paid by the municipality and the county, while the state will cover the other half.
