Imam in Sweden Accused of Terror Links

Swedish Radio News reports that an imam from Uzbekistan living here has been accused by his homeland’s state television of terrorist links.

The imam, Obidhon Nazorov, who has refugee status from the United Nations, denies the charges. He tells Swedish Radio News that the Uzbek regime is spreading false propaganda against the opposition.

The TV broadcast in Uzbekistan came shortly after Swedish Radio recently reported that the Uzbek authorities have used extortion and other threats to force Uzbeks here to spy on other immigrants and asylum-seekers, and that they face torture when they return to their homeland.
