NASA Hacker Will Not Face Prosecution

The investigation of a 21-year old Swedish man suspected for hacking into NASA's computer system is now over, reports news agency TT.

This means the man will not be prosecuted for that crime. However, the suspect had previously been found guilty of hacking into Swedish university computer systems.

"Earlier, he was convicted for commiting other crimes during the same period. He cannot receive more punishment than what he's already been sentenced to," says the prosecutor Cathrine Rudström.

The man was indicted in the U.S. last year, suspected for hacking NASA's and the IT company Cisco's computer systems.

According to the U.S. Justice department, this happened in 2004, when he was 16-years-old. But in the spring, the U.S. turned the investigation and the indictment over to the Swedish authorities.
