Subway workers threaten strike

The union representing employees of Stockholm’s metro system, SAC-DSTS, threaten to take their members out in strike on Thursday next week, according to newspaper Dagens Nyheter. The organisation says that their members are tired of the poor working conditions.

The problems between the employees and their Hong Kong based employer MTR, or Mass Transit Railways, started shortly after the company took over the Stockholm underground system

“We are unhappy with several things,” union representative Jens Bessing, told Dagens Nyheter. “The introduction of new schedules leads to a worsening of the conditions, which affects the safety.”
