Traders lose interest in Swedish stock exchange

The amount of company shares traded in Stockholm was 56 per cent lower this August, compared with last year.

The head of the Stockholm OMX exchange, Jens Henriksson says this is a worrying drop, linked to a global trend away from trading in stocks and shares.

He adds that this is not just a problem for his company, and for other similar financial trading firms. He says that less interest in buying shares means that fewer companies will be able to generate investment through selling shares.
