Alcohol sales fall

Alcohol sales from Sweden's state-owned alcohol sales (off-licence) monopoly Systembolaget fell by 2.2 percent between March and June 2013 compared to the same period last year, according to new figures.

Sales of spirits, such as vodka and whisky, fell by 5.9 percent.

Strong beer, wine and spirits can only be bought in Sweden at Systembolaget's stores, which are only open Monday through Friday until around 7pm, and for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.
