Violence halts medicine deliveries to Stockholm suburb

A delivery firm is refusing to bring medicines and food to the north-western Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby after a driver was attacked and brought to hospital.

On Thursday, a member of staff of DB Schencker was badly beaten in the Rinkeby area. The incident has been reported to the police.

Other drivers have refused to go to the area in the past because of stones being thrown at their vehicles.

"None of our drivers want to go there," a DB Schenker spokesperson told news agency TT.

The company, which deliveries medicine, food and other items, is working with security guards and police and hopes to resume deliveries soon. A police spokesperson said more officers will be deployed in the area so that locals and business owners can feel safe.
