Swedish Parents of Young Chldren Working Overtime
A new study by Sweden’s giant white collar union claims that members are working more and more overtime hours – preventing 20,000 new jobs from being created.
The study describes most of those putting in over time hours as parents with young children – denying the youngsters the essential time together at home.
Part of the explanation is the growing competition on the job market and the fear the parents have of falling out of favor– as well as employers’ eagerness to avoid hiring new workers.
