
Record snow in northern Sweden
The amount of snow that has accumulated in the northern city of Luleå has broken a long-held record. On Tuesday, the snow came to 113 cm in Kallax, breaking the previous record, which had been set in 1966, when the snow came to 111 cm high.
Kittelfjäll, in northwestern Sweden, also reported record snow at 120 cm on Tuesday morning. Many weather stations in the far north have measured snow over one meter, according to Swedish Radio P4 Västerbotten.
However, Dalarna, in western Sweden had even more snow than in northern Sweden, with Gördalen, near the Norwegian border, measuring a depth of 151 cm on Monday, according to the tabloid Aftonbladet.
