Agency to search for "missing pensioners"

More than 55,000 Swedes have not received their pension checks because the Swedish Pensions Agency cannot find their addresses.

Now the Pensions Agency has said they will try to locate the plus-65 retirees who have often moved abroad without giving notice. It's estimated there is as much as a half billion kronor a year which is not claimed.

Three-quaters of the "missing" pension claimants come from other Nordic countries, but many others come from countries like Greece and Turkey. The board told Swedish Radio that some cases involve people who worked in Sweden as long ago as the 1960s.
