Concern remains for Jews in Malmö

The American government’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism says there’s still reason to be concerned about the situation of Jews in Malmö.

President Obama’s envoy, Ira Forman, said during a visit to the Jewish community in Malmö Tuesday that he believes there is a threat of violence against Jews in Europe.

After meeting the city’s mayor Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, the American envoy says he does see an obvious improvement since the previous mayor was criticized for remarks on Jews and the Israeli attack on Gaza by his predecessor.

Last month there was a fatal attack on the synagogue in Copenhagen, just across the Sound from Malmö.
