The Royal Court confirmed to news agency TT that the decision to cancel the trip was taken on Wednesday evening.
"We have done a safety assessment and decided to postpone the planned trip. It is because of the terrible event in Kenya," said court spokesperson Margareta Thorgren to TT.
According to the original plan, Crown Princess Victoria would have travelled to Kenya next week for a four-day visit. Whether the visit can be be rescheduled remains unclear.
"Of course we hope the princess can conduct the visit at a later time," said Margareta Thorgren.
It was only a week ago that nearly 150 people were killed by Islamist Militants at a college in the north of the country.
