Armless man denied disability parking

A man who is missing both arms, and for that reason can’t pay parking meters, has been denied parking permission for the disabled by the local authorities in Örebro. The reason, the newspaper Nerikes Allehanda writes, is that the authorities say he can walk.

The man has a specially-built car, which he needs for his job. Since he cannot carry heavy objects or walk far, he appealed the decision. But the municipality’s position has been upheld by both the country authorities and the Swedish Transport Agency.

The man had previously been granted a disability parking permit, but it was suddenly withdrawn when it was to be renewed.
