Police: Tensta unrest reaction by criminals

The Stockholm Police say Friday nights troubles in the suburb of Tensta was caused by criminals reacting to police activities in the area in the past week. Residents in the area tell Swedish Radio’s P4 Stockholm that around 20 cars have been confiscated there recently.

Police fired warning shots when a patrol in Tensta was attacked Friday night. Around 50 people took part, throwing Molotov cocktails and rocks.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred outside a subway station just before 10:00 PM, Eva Nilsson of the police information office tells Swedish Radio News. No arrests were made, and the situation was reported to be calm by midnight.

The police told Swedish Radio News that they had found a large number of Molotov cocktails in a garage, and the incident seems to have been planned, and not spontaneous.
