Another JAS Gripen crash-landing

For the second time in less than a month, a JAS Gripen fighter jet on lease from Sweden to Hungary was forced to make an emergency crash-landing Wednesday morning.

The incident happened while the plane was en route to land at a military base in Hungary and, according to the Swedish Defence and Security Export Agency, the pilot was forced to eject from the plane on the landing strip. He is reported to be injured but in stable condition.

Hungary's deputy chief of defence said that the pilot experienced problems with the landing gear. Now the incident is going to be investigated by Hungarian authorities.

On May 19 another JAS Gripen on lease to Hungary crashed, in the Czech Republic. Hungary has leased 14 JAS 39 Gripen jets from Sweden, which according to plans will be purchased later.
