Grenade attack on apartment in Malmö

Two hand grenades were thrown at an apartment building in Malmö Saturday morning. The devices did not detonate, but the area was evacuated. The area was cordoned off again in the afternoon to search through a car parked in the vicinity.

60 people were evacuated while a bomb squad investigated the area closer. No one was injured in the attack.

Swedish Television spoke with residents in the area who were shook up by the attacks.

"When I moved here 32 years ago it was a safe neighbourhood, but now I don't feel safe anymore", says Ioan Lukacs to SVT, "it's just a matter of time before something terrible happens", he added.

The area was cordoned off again in the afternoon to search through a car parked in the vicinity. Police did not find anything suspicious in the car however, and residents have since been let back into their homes, writes local newspaper Sydsvenskan.
