5-year-old Haddile gets permanent residency

Haddile, the 5-year-old girl who became famous all over Sweden in 2012, when the Migration Board ruled to deport her to her biological mother in France, has been granted a permanent residence permit, public broadcaster SVT reports.

The Migration Board's decision stirred controversy three years ago, when Haddile was still a toddler, as the girl was born and raised in Sweden and has settled with her foster family who wish to adopt her. The biological mother disappeared shortly after her daughter's birth.

In 2013, she was granted a two-year residence permit on the grounds of "particularly distressing circumstances", in order to make it possible for her to reunite with her biological parents.

Members of the foster family have said that the biological parents have only visited the girl once.
