Sweden's first techno-house festival to take place in a quarry

A former limestone quarry set in a forest in Dalarna will be the venue for Sweden's first ever techno-house music festival at the end of the month.

"Into the Valley" will convert the open air venue Dalhalla, near the town of Rättvik, into a giant club for two days with electro dance artists such as Carl Craig, Ben Klock and John Talabot appearing.

Festival project manager Maja Asperö Lind tells Radio Sweden that the unusual venue will provide a stunning backdrop to two-days of non-stop music.

"I heard it might have been a meteor that fell from the sky to create this limestone quarry. The quarry is filled with green-blue water and we thought that this would be amazing. We don't have any big dance music festivals in Sweden."

Into the Valley begins on July 31st. Those wishing to buy tickets have to be over the age of 23.
