World Beard Day in Stockholm promises to be a facial hair bonanza
Stockholmers with a soft spot for "face fuzz" will be celebrating World Beard Day Saturday afternoon, taking part in thematically appropriate festivities at a bar on the trendy island of Södermalm.
Both bearded and unbearded alike are invited to the free event, according to the organizers, which will offer competitions, mingling opportunities, and barbers on hand, and where a portion of some sales will go to charity.
Andreas Fransson, 32, helped arrange the event and came in to the studio at Radio Sweden to show off his 20 cm long beard and talk about his relationship to his "chin blanket".
"I started growing a beard as soon as I saw the first strand of hair on my chin," he said, adding, "I can never imagine shaving it," he said. The first time he'll get it trimmed by a barber is this weekend.
