Swedish icon Barbro "Lill-Babs" Svensson is dead at 80

One of Sweden's most popular singers and entertainers over the decades, Barbro "Lill-Babs" Svensson, has died at the age of 80, reports Swedish Radio News.

Lill-Babs, as she was known, released her first album in the mid 1950s and soon became one of the country's most beloved artists.

She made her public performance debut at the age of just 15, on Children's Day in her hometown of Järvsö in 1953, and her career stretched for some 60 years. Last year, she was inducted into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame.
