Sweden's annual lobster premiere, which sees the first catch of the season sold at auction, saw the crustacean fetch SEK 83,000 per kilogram at Gothenburg's fish market this morning.

The sum was nearly double as much as last year's price of SEK 47,000 per kilogram.

Buyer Per-Arne Korshag has won the auction three times, but says it will be the first occasion when he gets to taste the lobster himself.

"My wife died last year and I will be eating it alone this weekend", the 73-year-old smoked salmon retailer tells Radio Sweden.
