Swedes are warming up to the idea of hosting the Winter Olympics but support remains tepid, according to a Novus opinion poll.

Public opinion remains divided with almost half of Swedes, 47 percent, positive to hosting the games and 41 percent opposing it.

A survey from February 2018 found 35 percent supported Stockholm's efforts to host the Olympics, while 53 percent said they did not.

In less than two weeks, Sweden will find out if it'll host of 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Its only other competitor is a combined Italian bid from Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

A final decision from the International Olympic Committee is scheduled for June 24.
