Just one out of 10 Swedes likes Trump, survey finds

1:46 min

Three years into his presidency, US leader Donald Trump remains deeply unpopular with Swedes where eight out of 10 say they dislike him.

The findings from pollster Novus match those of a previous survey from 2017, carried out shortly after Trump's election. Sören Holmberg, a political scientist at the University of Gothenburg, said Trump's time in office has been marked by the vulgarization of the political discourse and combativeness so it's not hard to see why he's unpopular here.

Trump is least liked by the elderly, women and those who vote for liberal or left-leaning political parties.

A majority of voters, 52 percent, believe Trump being re-elected in November would have a negative impact on Sweden.
