The police’s chief health-and-safety officer has put a stop to routine roadside breath tests in the interest of protecting colleagues from the coronavirus.

A health-and-safety officer can call for such a suspension if they believe a particular task presents an immediate or serious danger to employees.

Patrik Danielsson says he was surprised that the Police Authority didn’t put a stop to the routine breathalyzer tests on their own accord:

It would have been wise to take such a decision considering the current situation, where the Public Health Agency has said there is a high risk of the coronavirus spreading among the general public.”
