Swedish Education Minister: Government prepared for distance learning in all schools

Publicerad 17 mar 2020 · kl 12:56 · 2:11 min

Sweden's Education Minister Anna Esktröm says the government is ready to shut down primary education and tell younger children to study from home should it be needed in order to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

Upper secondary schools, universities and other adult education programs have been asked to switch to remote learning to slow the spread of the virus. But while children under the age of 16 continue to go to school as normal for the moment, Ekström told Radio Sweden that could change if needed.

The Education Minister explained that legislation is being prepared in order to provide help for people working in important public services should distance learning be expanded to all age groups.
