Break-ins down in Sweden as coronavirus keeps people at home

The number of reported break-ins at Swedish homes has dropped in the last two weeks, and in the case of Stockholm county it has as much as halved. The explanation is likely to be coronavirus.

Stockholm Police criminologist and analyst Sven Granath told Swedish Radio that it is harder for criminals to enter homes when people are at home more often, while international networks may be struggling to travel between countries.

A less encouraging trend can be seen in fraud and attempted fraud however, where coronavirus fears are being exploited to target the elderly in particular.
