The total number of covid-19 fatalities in Sweden has risen by 170 to 1,203 reported deaths Wednesday. This following a backlog in cases from the Easter Weekend, according to assistant state epidemiologist Anders Wallensten.

The assistant state epidemiologist also says he's cautiously optimistic that the infections and fatalities curves that were rising before the weekend now look to be declining, although there could still be a backlog of cases and that a few more day's numbers need to come in before any trend can be verified.

Intensive care capacity in Sweden continues to increase, with 1,064 ICU beds now in the country. There are currently 525 people being treated in intensive care with covid-19, which is fewer than yesterday.
