"This is a massive upscaling": Stockholm's Karolinska hospital on increasing Coronavirus testing capacity
Stockholm's Karolinska University Hospital is now also in the process of dramatically increasing its tests for whether a person has the Coronavirus infection as well as if a person has had the virus and developed antibodies, thanks to access to new machines used by researchers at the nearby Karolinska Institute.
It is hoped that the increased testing will help staff in healthcare work safely and better protect risk groups, while the antibody tests should provide useful information for authorities on the spread of the pandemic as well as when restrictions could be lifted.
Claes Ruth, who is in charge of Karolinska University Hospital's laboratory, explained to Radio Sweden how the tests work, as well as how accurate the antibody tests are.
