Dozens of cars were set ablaze and property damaged in a night of unrest in Gothenburg.

Police arrested around 40 people on Sunday and five were still in custody at 9 am on Monday.

"It's deplorable with this group of men who have been going around town looking to destroy things and cause trouble," police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg tells Swedish Radio.

Earlier in the day in central Gothenburg, over two thousand people had turned out for a racial justice march which was authorised for 50 people owing to the coronavirus restrictions on public gatherings.
