NRK: No open border between Norway and Sweden this summer

1:04 min

There'll be no open border between Sweden and Norway this summer. According to Norway's public service television, travel to Sweden will continue to be discouraged due to the high rate of infection here.

It means those Norwegians who cross the border will still have to be in ten days quarantine on their return. In practice it also means that Swedes will continue to be barred from Norway.

The news is a blow in particular to many hypermarkets along the Swedish border who rely on Norwegian shoppers.

NRK's revelations come on the day when Norway's prime minister Erna Solberg is due to present new travel guidelines.

Update: The Baltic island of Gotland will be exempt from the restrictions, Norwegian Prime Minister Solberg says.
