Survey reveals changes in media coverage for political parties when corona hit

A survey of Swedish media in the second quarter of the year suggests the change in what issues dominated the papers and the airwaves has meant more attention for the ruling Social Democrats, while the Sweden Democrats have received less media coverage.

Swedish Radio News regularly asks polling company Kantar-Sifo to look at what the media is reporting on, and whose voices are heard.

Their head of analysis Per Söderpalm says the fact that prime minister Stefan Löfven and other ministers have been regularly presenting proposals for support to companies, and other measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, has meant the Social Democrat party has received more coverage and has also got to talk about issues it is more comfortable with, such as the economy.
