Anglo-Swedish drugmaker AstraZeneca pauses Covid-19 vaccine trial

AstraZeneca, the Anglo-Swedish drug company, said it had paused global trials of its coronavirus vaccine this week because of a serious reaction suffered by a participant.

It's unknown whether the reaction was caused by the vaccine or something else entirely.

Either way, the delay could push back any possible debut of a vaccine by several weeks. That's according to pharmacist Richard Bergström, who was appointed as Sweden's vaccine coordinator for the Covid-19 pandemic.
