Fears that visitors will bring covid into care homes

The government announced yesterday that visits to elderly care homes will be once again be allowed from October 1st, as long as people keep distance and stay away if ill, but nurses are worried some visitors will not listen to these rules, and bring Covid-19 back into the homes.

Swedish Radio's P4 Uppland spoke to some care homes in their region for reactions to the decision. Karina Dahl is an auxiliary nurse and the health and safety representative for a care home in Knivsta. She says they already know from some time ago that some visitors just don't care about the rules to stop the spread of corona.

She is worried that the opening of the care homes will put even more pressure on staff there to inform and enforce the rules.
