European Commission reveals new migration and asylum proposals

The EU commission's proposal for a new system for asylum and migration is good news for politicians in Sweden who have stressed the importance of more shared responsibility for the migrants in Europe, says Swedish Radio's migration correspondent.

EU commissioner Ylva Johansson presented the commission's proposal for a new European "pact" on migration and asylum on Wednesday. Migrants screened at the border of the union and more emphasis on returning people to the countries they came from, if they are not allowed to stay, are some of the ingredients.

We spoke to Swedish Radio's Migration Correspondent Alice Petrén about the proposal, why it is seen as so important, and how it is expected to be received.
