Christian Democrats to vote on ending support for extra language lessons

The Christian Democrats will meet to vote on whether the party supports scrapping a national program that gives students the right to have language lessons in their mother tongue.

The program aims to improve a student's native language spoken at home through extra lessons at school. But Christian Democrat party secretary Peter Kullgren tells Swedish Radio News that it doesn't work.

Delegates from the center-right party will look at a list of 72 proposals on how to improve Swedish schools when they meet in Stockholm.
